picking out all the stars that we like…

August 12th, 2012

I just saw two shooting stars! It’s a beautiful night ♥
I love watching the stars and this song is the perfect soundtrack:

… I know it’s late but I can’t help but think here
That the day hasn’t shown all its cards
Now it’s out to the stars of the ocean
Let’s not retrace our steps to the car

Picking out all the stars that we like, between finger and thumb
You laugh as you pass me the night, as if it’s too fragile to hold
And I hold it so close to my chest, with your hands in my hands
You say this is just how we’ll rest until land turns to sand

… and the fire that is starting to go out

The video for the next Snow Patrol single premiered yesterday (and I already saw it last week ’cause it leaked somehow, haha)..
It’s so sad and so perfect. How many times can this song break my heart?! Gary crying is more than I can stand… I really want to give him a big hug now.

SNOW PATROL in Berlin 25/02/12

March 3rd, 2012

♥ ♥ ♥ I love this band.

We had such a great day last Saturday, the concert was awesome. Gary was on top form, joking around as always and saying how much they love Berlin. They played seven new songs and I loved all of them. New York still breaks my heart and Lifening was so so beautiful. We also got the reworked version of Chasing Cars and I finally heard Set The Fire and Just Say Yes live… *sigh* we had so much fun!

A few months ago you could send in photos you took at SP concerts for the new tour book. I sent in the ones we took at the Hamburg show and our picture with Gary. I never thought they’d use them… so we didn’t buy the tour book but asked a girl who got it if we could have a look through it – there’s two pages with fan photos and our picture with Gary is in there!! =D We’re in the tour book! hahaha I guess I have to buy it now.

We met Gary again afterwards :) He looked quite tired but still signed stuff and posed for photos. Always so nice… Jenny told him that he’s “fucking patient”, I think he liked that =D And then it was time for a new photo:

I’m on the right with my “Oh-my-God-it’s-Gary-freaking-Lightbody” face, hahaha. So so happy!!
After I thanked him for the picture he put his hand on my shoulder again and said “Take care”
♥ ♥ He’s the best!!!

One day like this a year would see me right

February 14th, 2012

First of all, Valentine’s Day can fuck right off *forever alone*

But I connect one great music related thing with this day so I thought I’d share it here.

Three years ago today I randomly stumbled upon a Youtube video and instantly fell in love with it. Snow Patrol are covering an Elbow song for the Live Lounge on Radio 1. That doesn’t sound too exciting but I can’t remember a song that captivated me this much at first listen. I remember sitting awestruck in front of my computer, thinking “Wow, how beautiful is this”.
Guy Garvey’s lyrics, Garys voice, the string section, Gary conducting :D, everyone singing in canon at the end… turn off the lights and listen for yourself:

I’ve listened to this so many times now in the last three years and it still gives me goosebumps and makes me so happy.

Happy Christmas…

…to the two lovely souls who are reading this :D May that number be doubled by the end of next year :D

Anyway, let’s have some of my favourite Christmas songs and covers to celebrate!

And the most wonderful of them all…

So so beautiful, especially this live version. Also check out the official video. The people on the boat are all members from :)

if we could float away…

I saw parts of Children In Need Rocks a few weeks ago, great show for a great cause. The donated money goes towards helping disadvantaged children in the UK.
See the video above – if you donate at least £5, you get to see the whole dressing room performance by Coldplay (and Snow Patrol, Elbow and seven others).
I thought it was high time I finally donated at least something to any good cause, so I tried it today (I thought it might not work since I’m not from the UK) – but donating via Paypal is possible, so it worked just fine :)

Love the performances of my two favourite bands, especially Coldplays. Looks just like the old days, the boys in their normal clothes (:D), their instruments and nothing else. Beautiful ♥

music moments 2009

December 4th, 2011

I keep this list of my favourite moments in music – like multiple bands playing together or someone doing a great cover. Anything special that gives me goosebumps.

So here are some videos from 2009, in chronological order.

Coldplay, The Killers, Bono and Gary Barlow playing All These Things That I’ve Done at a War Child gig – awesome to see all of them on a stage together! (even though Bono exaggerated a bit… oh well, it’s Bono.) Love it when Chris gives Gary Barlow the microphone :D I really really hope a pro recording of this is going to surface one day.

Snow Patrol headlined the V Festival in Chelmsford after Oasis pulled out last minute. Must be hard to play for a crowd that’s mostly there for Oasis… but Snow Patrol did such an awesome job, I don’t think anyone was dissapointed in the end. I listened to the whole concert live on the radio and I had shivers running down my spine when they covered Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Love love love it. And Gary, obviously :D (he wore the same t-shirt when I met him only three weeks before the festival, haha..)

Muse swapped instruments because they were forced to mime on an Italian TV show – by far the funniest moment =D Chris playing Matts Glitterati, Matt doing silly moves on the drums and Dom as the bass-playing singer, it’s hilarious. How they got through the whole song without cracking up is beyond me.

Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and friends busking in Dublin on Christmas Eve – wow. To actually be there and sing along with all these people would be the perfect Christmas. This is my favourite video of that evening, all of them singing Mic Christopher’s Hey Day. So much joy!

That’s it for 2009, moments from 2010 will follow next Sunday :)

I miss it all, from the love to the lightning

Heartbreakingly beautiful.

there’s joy not far from here, I know there is

WOOHOOO I’ve got tickets to see Snow Patrol in Berlin next year! And I’ve got the new album Fallen Empires.

Fallen Empires

Listened to it once so far and I really like it :) And I’m sure it’s going get even better with every listen. I’ll write more on it (and Coldplay’s MX) in a few weeks :)

EMAs 2011

November 8th, 2011

I love award shows, even if it’s all the same every year, especially all these MTV Awards. VMAs, EMAs… So called “Popstars” getting prizes instead of people who can actually sing, write songs and play instruments, people like a certain actor who was famous in the 80s and whose name I won’t mention here being embarrassing, some girl with a microphone on the red carpet only caring about everyone’s outfits and for the rest it’s just an excuse to get drunk and do stupid things on telly. I love it =D

This years EMAs weren’t that exciting but I still enjoyed watching. Coldplay AND Snow Patrol performing? I’d never miss that.

Coldplay opened the show – the first thing you could hear were the chords of Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall and the first thing you could see was Chris’ bum =D Very nice. Wasn’t their best performance (Chris really needs to stop jumping around so much, his voice sounds so much better when he’s not) but it was still a great start.
As expected, Coldplay didn’t win anything last night. They lost Best Rock to Linkin Park and Best Live to Katy Perry. Haha, you just can’t take this serious.

Snow Patrol played a gig outside the City Hall and they cut in Called Out In The Dark as part of the show. Gary looked so excited to be playing in Belfast :D I think he knocked his microphone down at the end – and the crowd just kept on singing :) Beautiful.

On the show they also honoured Queen and payed tribute to Amy Winehouse, that was a nice touch. But the rest of the ceremony wasn’t that spectacular. Bring on the next awards!
