time flies

October 30th, 2011

12 years ago today (well, actually yesterday but eh. It’s 2am here) we got our wonderful cat, Pinki.
I still remember everything about this day, especially how she fell asleep on her first night at her new home: on my pillow, rested against the top of my head :D
Eight months later she gave birth to six little kitten, and one of them is Flecki, who still lives with us. I can’t imagine my life without these two.

See why she’s called Pinki? :D

I really love H&M and my favourite season is autumn. So for me, these two put together make for beautiful autumn clothes:

Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto

October 22nd, 2011

Wow, my first ever blogpost. Let’s start this thing off proper with a new Coldplay album!

I woke up early and quite excited yesterday morning, the air outside was icy cold and everything was covered in white – sounds like Christmas doesn’t it? It definitely felt a bit like it but instead of getting presents I went out in the deep October mist and bought myself one: Coldplay’s fifth LP, Mylo Xyloto.

I have to say I wasn’t (and I’m still not) quite sure of lots of things about this record. But let’s go back to the beginning …

I liked Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall when it came out in June – not their best song and definitely not Chris’ best lyrics, but it’s uplifting and a fitting song for the summer festivals. After watching the livestream of their Rock am Ring performance I was sure that this album was going to be great.

I wasn’t so sure anymore when they revealed the title and artwork for it. Bright graffiti and two barely pronounceable words? Not really my cuppa tea.
In September they released the second single Paradise and that was when I lost all hope, haha. Para-para-paradise?! C’mon Chris, you can do way better than that. The announcement that Rihanna of all people would sing on Princess of China only made it worse.

But it’s still Coldplay and I waited over three years for this album. You just have to stop thinking about how great the other albums are and how that acoustic album they initially planned would have sounded like. So I sat down with a hot cappuccino and a chocolate muffin, prepared for everything …

and I like it so far :) I only listened to it once yesterday so I can’t say much yet, but it’s definitely not bad. It flows quite nicely, I like the 30-40sec snippets between the actual songs. My favourite so far would be Us Against The World I think.

And: I actually like Paradise now, after I saw the very sweet video for it :D So I’m going to leave you with this:
